Message from the Director, Disaster Risk Reduction & Recovery Directorate
Reducing disaster risks and supporting recovery efforts are essential for building resilient communities. The Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery Directorate works to minimize the impact of disasters by promoting preparedness, prevention, and resilience-building initiatives across the Somali Regional State.
The directorate conducts risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and hazard mapping to better understand factors that increase community exposure to disasters. These assessments support the development of strategies and programs that help reduce risks and strengthen resilience.
Following disaster events, the directorate also supports recovery and rehabilitation initiatives that help affected communities restore livelihoods, rebuild infrastructure, and regain stability.
Through strengthening preparedness systems and integrating disaster risk reduction into development planning, the directorate contributes to long-term resilience and improved disaster management across the Somali Regional State.
